QuestionThe leaves on my camellia are half brown, the brown halves being dried on each
leaf. The camellia is in sun all morning, then shaded by trees. We live in
Memphis, Tennessee. What is causing this?
AnswerSounds like a root rot. Check the water content of the soil and make sure the root system is getting adequate water but not sitting in standing water for more than 24 hours at a time. You can check the roots by smelling of the soil in the root zone. If it smells like a sewer, then they are getting too much water. This is the only reason I have seen cause brown leaves on camellia, but there could be other causes. I hope you can determine what the culprit is. Good Luck.
