QuestionI noticed that the tops of our two nice maples (I think Norway variety) a lot of the leaves are eaten and you can see through them, they look like leaf skeletons. Does anyone know what this might be? I live North of Chicago about 15 miles from Wisconsin.
Thanks
Kevin
AnswerNot sure exactly what the insect is that is eating on your maple. Several bugs will cause that skeletonized type of symptom on leaves. I would treat the plant with Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insecticide. This product is mixed with water and poured on the soil around the base of the plant. It is taken up systemically and will kill the bugs within a week or so. It also provides protection from reinfestation for up to a year. I hope this helps prevent further damage. Good Luck.
