Jasmin bush and vines

Question
I have a Jasmine bush that was light green and growing great and it seems over night all the leaves turned yellow and were drooping.  I live in Arizona and the heat wave just started.  I water it 4-5 times per week.  Am I watering it too much or not enough or is it just too hot? 113 degrees here daily.  Also, I have two Jasmine vines that have lost almost all their leaves before the heat wave started, and I found crickets living in the ground near the base of the vines.  Would crickets be the problem or any other ideas?  They are watered the same amount, and they have dark green edges of the leaves with yellow in the middle and brown in the very middle.  It's very confusing.

Answer
Hi Anne...I do not know the weather in Arizona but here in Florida it may not be enough water.  Water past your plant not always right on top to make the roots go to the water.  Form a well around your plant like a sauce to capture the water inside it so the plant gets more water.  Make it go past the drip line of your plant.  Mulch is always a plus to help keep the moisture in the ground on very hot days.  If it is an insect you could always spray with an insecticidal spray like Neem to keep the pests away.  It does sound more like not enough water to me.
