HELP! Something is killing my boxwoods?

Question

I have several boxwoods that are slowly dying. The dying areas are THICKLY COVERED with what looks like a yellowish powder but on closer look there are millions of small yellow granules. I don't think it is an insect because I see no movement and I've tried an insecticide. It literally looks like a yellow powder has been blown over half the plant and that part of the plant is dying. ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!! THANKS

Answer
Might the yellow powder be pollen from a tree above or close by?  Boxwoods are susceptible to what we call boxwood decline, a soil borne fungal disease that will slowly kill off one branch at a time.  There is really no treatment for this.  Cut off the dead branches.  You can try to mix a 2% solution of Daconil fungicide and pour on the soil around the base of the plant.  This may help slow it down.  I hope this helps some.  Good Luck.
