QuestionHi again David...my Sago Palms fronds are yellowing. It's small and planted in a deep pot. I see really tiny red spots on it in a few places. Some I can brush off, but some are like "in" the frond. Do you know what's happening to it?
AnswerIf the tiny red spots are oval shaped and slightly raised off the plant surface, I would say it is scale insects. It also could be spider mites. I would buy Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insecticide and treat according to label instructions. It is applied to the soil around the base of the plant. The product is systemic and will kill the bugs within a week or two. It also provides up to a year of protection from reinfestation. The product can be bought at Home Depot. Good Luck.
