QuestionI started a fig tree from a cutting last year. It wintered over in the garage well and started off great guns this spring. Within the last two weeks, several of the leaves have turned brown around the front edge of some leaves, and the discoloration is creeping inwards. The tree is in a pot (potting soil and fine pine bark mulch) and well drained. I can email very clear, close-up pics if you have an address I can send them to. Thank you for your help.
AnswerIf you recently moved the tree from the garage to outside, it may be sunburn from not being used to the intense sunlight. I would plant it in the ground since it is a very huge shrub when mature. Pull off the severely affected leaves as they are doing nothing for the plant. Fertilize lightly and keep watered well. It should do just fine. Once established I dont think you can kill the darn thing. Good Luck.
