Garden Prince Almond tree

Question
I planted a garden prince almond tree about 3 months ago, I bought mail order from Stark brother Nursery's.  It was dry rooted and dormant, when it was planted.  (I live in Orlando, FL, and the soil is sandy)  A couple weeks later it woke up, the buds sprouted green leaves.  It had been looking healthy, but today I looked and it had dropped some yellow leaves, and has a mixture of yellow turning, and bright green leaves.  As you know, it's been dry in FL, until we got heavy rains this past weekend.  Should I fertilize the tree now, water it, or let it dry out?

Answer
Hi Art... Do not fertilize your tree now let the roots grow first.  It has been dry here in FL so you should be watering your plant three times a week for at least one month then switch to a weekly watering of at least 3 inches.  Yellow leaves is an indication of not enough water.  Do not count on rain as often times if you push the soil away it is still dry.  Add some mulch around your tree but not closer than 6 inches to the trunk.  Fertilize in the fall no later than OCT
