dwarf citrus tree- rasin like scabs all over it

Question
I have 3 potted outdoor dwarf citrus trees in San Francisco.  One has developed brownish black rasin like scabs all over the trunk and branches. (prior to this it had an ant infestation that i was told was harmless to the plant.) The tree is now dying and my 2nd citrus is developing the same lesions on the trunk. My third citrus tree now has an ant infestation, but no sign of the lesions that are on the other two plants...(yet). They have been baring small lemons  for about 2 years.  I am moving these potted plants to a new home on Saturday and am now nervous this disease could spread into my new backyard. I need to know of I can fix this problem, so nothing else is infected, or if this is irreversible.

Answer
Hi Kristen...sounds like you are not giving your plants enough water else the ants would not be living in it.  For the bugs on your trees you need and insecticidal spray to smother the bugs living on it.  That should clean it up for you move.  I water my plants in pots everyday in Florida, don't know how hot you are in SF but water and fertilize to make your trees happier and the bugs will stay away.
