QuestionI HAVE BIG YUCCA PLANTS IN MY FRONT YARD OF MY TOWN HOUSE. THE BOTTOM LEAVES ARE BROWN AND SPLOTCHY. SOME TO THE POINT THEY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE EITHER DYING OR DEAD. CAN I DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT?
AnswerFirst of all, cut those leaves off. They are probably diseased by bacteria. Find Hi-Yield Copper Fungicide at a garden center and mix according to label instructions for ornamentals. The copper will have activity against bacteria and fungi. Spray the entire plant until runoff. Retreat in about 7-10 days and then watch for development of more splotches. If that happens, treat again. The splotches may also be nutrient deficiency. Fertilize with an all purpose shrub fertilizer that has micronutrients in it. Then wait about a month and see how the plant looks. Respond back if the plant does not improve. Good Luck.
