QUESTION: A local nursery associate seemed to believe that the tree may have been exposed to some water spray and was then burned by some 90-degree weather we had for 3-4 days a couple of weeks ago. I sprayed the tree about a month ago with Spectracides's Triazicide, an insect killer, but did it with a spray bottle connected to the garden hose so the leaves were totally saturated, not spotted. While I have a photo on my hard drive that I could send to you, I don't know how to attach it to this email.
AnswerHis theory may be getting close. Many things can burn the leaves. If the plant had very tender growth that would be possible. The product you used may have also played a part. If the plant is not wilted and the leaves are not turning brown, I would leave it alone and watch the new growth. If it comes out looking OK, then I would do nothing. I think you are in a wait and see mode for a couple of weeks. Let me know if anything changes.
