camellia bush

Question
I have three camellia bushes on the back side of my house.  They get full morning sun.  One is doing ok, green leaves, starting to look like it will bloom.  The other two are yellow and the leaves are dropping like flies.  I live in a northern suburb of Atlanta so I would think they should be thriving.  What can I do??  Please help me!

Sincerely,
Ashley Serge

Answer
They could be getting to much water and are suffereing from root rot.  Many things can cause yellow defoliating leaves.  Check your water and even the root system by pulling up some small roots and observing them.  They should be white to light brown, but not dark brown.  Pull on the root with your thumb and finger and see if it separates with the outside of the root coming off.  If this happens, then it is root rot.  Respond back for chemical recommendations if this is the case.  You can also do a follow up if this is not the case and we can go in a different direction.
