QuestionI live in Central Florida and have a moss or some other type of plant parasite growing in my oak and other trees. This is not Spanish Moss, but rather a clump plant that is whitish gray with dry tan-colored flowers on stalks. It grows on the bark of the trees and seems to be killing them. A lot of bark is falling off and limbs are dying. Can you identify what this is and how I should treat it?
Many thanks!
Bonnie
AnswerGenerally moss does not kill a tree but will grow on healthy as well as dying trees. I would suggest you contact the Florida Division Of Forestry and ask one of their Forester to come out and take a look at your trees and they can determine what is killing them. Their phone number should be in your local phone book or here is their web link.
