QuestionHi David,
Can you please tell me safe and effective chemical for Camellia flower and petal blight? (The book I have recommend Captan, but I heard it is no longer available on the market.) Thank you for your time.
AnswerYeah---captan is no longer available. I would recommend either Daconil (chlorothalonil) or Spectro 90 Fungicide (chlorothalonil + Thiophanate Methyl). Either of these products should provide preventative control if sprayed about 2 weeks apart during flowering season. I would spray at first flower break and then about two weeks later. The products should not hurt bloom quality but could burn a little if applied too strong. Pick up all fallen flower petals and dispose as these will serve as a source for the overwintering/oversummering of the fungus. Good Luck.
