QuestionHi,
I have a 2 year old Florida lemon tree that is almost always indoors as i live in a city. The tree has started to show some random brown/rust colored patches. there not condensed into "spots". These patches are on the branches and stem, not the leaves. The tree also recently dropped a lot of leaves, which it has never done before, and seems to have stopped, but still curious about the cause. The last thing i noticed was a few tiny green bugs on the plant, and some small amounts of webbing. I looked at some pictures of the scale insect, but it doesn't look the same.
The leaves in general seem unaffected, but like i said recent dropped, and a few are still yellowing. The tree continues to sprout new leaves and new branches.
thank you for any help!
AnswerHi Carolyn...Think maybe you have a few problems going on. Leaves usually drop quickly if the plant is not getting enough water. It maybe time for a move up to the next size pot. If the leaves are more in the middle of the plant it can be time for re-bloom, they are making way for the flowers. You can spray the bugs with soapy water, or 100 per cent pure neem oil, to smother the bugs. Neem is organic and wont wash off. Bugs on the leaves can be sucking the life out of the leaves and also cause leaf drop. This may help you choose the right scenario happening to your plant. Happy Gardening kathy
