QuestionHi Kathy,
I found you when I Googled about my money tree. You had recently answered someone else's concerns about their tree, and while it was helpful, it did not quite fit my situation.
I have had my money tree for almost 4 years now (this is my third winter with it). I live in Minnesota and my tree has always been indoors, in indirect light facing the south.
This winter, however, the leaves are dropping off faster than the new ones will grow. They are turning yellow on the tips and it gradually moves up to the entire leaf and then it drops off. (no, I do not water often; I let soil dry out before I water again).
This is the first year I have had this problem. My tree has always been so full and beautiful and my mom is envious of it. But now it's not looking so hot. I repotted it this past spring in a bigger planter because of how large it was becoming. I am fearful that I am losing my lovely plant!
Can you help me?
AnswerHi Amy...I think the biggest problem with this money making plant is that it turns into a 60ft tree. A plant that gets that big is impossible to keep it small. It is deciduous. They loose their leaves here in Florida, so I would think for sure in Minnesota it would do the same. Also the plant maybe growing faster in the bigger pot and ready for a move up again. No matter what it wants to keep growing into that big tree. Eventually you will have to wish it farewell or raise the roof of your home. Happy New Year...kathy
