QuestionI have a rose of Sharon tree with lots of moss growing on it. Can I pull it off without doing harm? What should I use to control not having moss?

AnswerConnie:
These growths are probably lichens. They are not considered disease organisms. They are a collection of a fungus and an algae growing in a symbiotic relationship. They can also grow on rocks, fence posts, etc. Usually found on older or stressed plants. Can be rubbed off,but will return.
