QuestionWe live in the San Diego area and recently had to have a Live Oak removed leaving a stump. How do we stop the continued growth of shoots whereas it is currently developing into a bush!
Appreciate your advise.
AnswerLet the growth grow about six inches tall and then spray the foliage with Roundup. Roundup is a herbicide that will be transported to the roots of the stump and kill the roots thus stopping the sprouting. Beware that Roundup will kill any green foliage it is sprayed on so when you spray pick a non windy day and keep the spray off anything not wanted to be killed. The results should show up in 10 14 days after the spray. Roundup can be bought at any local nursery/ garden type store. There is a generic version that is as effective and a little cheaper.
