QuestionWe have hundreds of Mountain Laurel on our property.
We have been using Holly Tone as a fertilizer.
This Spring the Laurels we pruned turned yellow and very spotty and look as if they are dying.
Need to keep this disease from spreading to other Laurels & Azaleas nearby.
Other Laurels are also very spotty- reddish, brown spots.
Please send some advice ASAP!
Thanks so much!
Regards,
Susan
P.S.-We live in Southern CT.
AnswerSounds like leaf spot disease. Here is a link to information on this disease. http://www.ct.gov/caes/lib/caes/documents/publications/fact_sheets/plant_patholo
It can be treated with a fungicide depending on the number of plants to treat. Here is the recommendation on the fungicides to use. http://extension.psu.edu/pests/plant-diseases/all-fact-sheets/mountain-laurel-di
It is important to use the management guidelines like raking all the infected leaves and removing them from the property and use the fungicide spray.
