QuestionI would like to know the source of disease or blight/insect infestation on my Red Topped Photema (not sure about spelling). The leaves are dropping from the plants. The problem is characterized as a multiplicity of spots (red, orange, brown, black, etc) on the remaining leaves on the plant. The plant is several years old. Newly planted bushes, a few feet away, do not seem to have the problem!? I have digital photographs, which I can share, which may help to diagnose my problem. Please advise.
AnswerHi Robert, How ru? The correct name is RED TIP PHOTINIA/and i have to say nice try!!The leaf fungus u talk about is called ENTOMOSPORIUM LEAFSPOT.This happens when it is cool n wet when spring bud break occurs. If u want treat with afungicde called BANNERMAX right after buds break next season.U can treat this year but do asap for max results.I would fertilize tree with a orgainic fertizer this year something with compost tea and seakelp, and humic acid.Check your garden center 4 these products/I dont no laws in your neck of woods if u can buy BANNERMAX yourself. You may want a CERTIFIED ARBORIST TO TREAT TREE!!GOODluck!!!
