QuestionOver the past couple years, I have noticed (you can't help but notice) that my two fairly young honeysuckle trees (approx. 3 years)are being infested with small white bugs that weave some sort of webbing or cocoon over the leaves and blossoms. This webbing completely covers the leaves and blossoms and cuts off light and rain/water from getting on the affected branches.
Are these aphids? Whatever they are, any ideas on how to get rid of them and prevent them from returning?
Thanx in advance for any and all assistance! I love my trees and am even adding another one this year - and I don't want to kill the baby with this infestation.
AnswerHi Treece How r u doing? It sounds like u got infection of spider mites which come in many colors red ,white, yellow and they make a webbing over the leaves n buds.Go to the garden center and get a mite killing product ORTHO MAKES a good one.AS long as it is labeled 4 mites u will b fine.Spray and u should be good all season and u may want to treat next spring in march. If U don't like the use of insecticide mix 8oz of veggie oil and 8oz of water in spray bottle. This will help just not as well as the ORTHO BRAND but its orgainic. Also u can try 2oz of dish soap and 6oz of water and treat 1xin 7days 4 3 weeks.Good LUCK!!!!
