Questionmy crepe myrtles appear to be "reining". I know I have heard abouth this being a pest as opposed to an insect, but I can't remember what is was.
AnswerSounds like aphids. These are soft bobied insects that suck the plant juices out of the leaves and excrete a substance called honeydew--a liquid high in sugar. Control the aphids and the "raining" will stop. Check with your local nursery/ garden type store and ask for a systemic insecticide for aphids. Spray in on all sides of the leaves and you may have to make a couple of applications about 7-10 apart.
