QuestionI have black patches/spots appearing on the bottom of my newly planted Arborvitae Emerald Green trees. Trees were planted 6 weeks ago. Is this disease and what can I do to save my trees?
AnswerSounds like just the shock of the planting. If the tree has healthy looking foliage on the rest of the tree there is not really a problem. A tree needs about 1 inch of rain each week so during dry weather (when ti does not rain) put a pan under the tree and water as you normally do and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. That way you will not over water the tree. Mulching around the tree will help hold moisture and aid in protecting the tree.
