QuestionHi I noticed you had a question from a person in Indiana regarding needle drop and my parents are experiencing a similar problem in Ontario,Canada. I will also email Mr. Marshall with my question, but I thought it was interesting that the same observation is occurring several hundred miles apart. Suze
AnswerNeedle drop can be normal. In conifers the old needles are shed each year and replaced by new ones. Ususlly this is not noticed since the tree has two sets of needles and always is green. If there are green needles at the ends of the branches then there is not a problem, just normal leaf shed. The timing of the leaf drop varies depending on the location and weather conditions. If the needles at the ends of the branches are dropping then there is a problem.
