QuestionI live in Dallas.
I have an Italian cypress that had spider mites. They are gone but the bottom 1/3 rd of the tree has died back. New growth is stunted. What can I do?
I have powdery mildew on a varigated euonymus that I spray with a fungiside but will not go away. suggestions?
AnswerThe spider mite can be controlled by the use of Insecticidal soap or insecticides. I prefer using regular insecticides, I suggest that you go to your local nursery /garden type store and ask for an insecticide for spider mites that works in your area. Here is a web site that gives information on spider mites and their control. http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2012.html
Powdery mildew can be sometimes dificult--not knowing what you used to spray with iwould suggest you try another fungicide. Here is a web site for powery mildew and controls--try it lists four fungicides. Again you might ask the local nursery what they use for powery mildew.
