QuestionHi. I have an amur maple that I planted in early June, about I yard high now and growing ok.But the tips of some of the newest leaves look like they have been scorched, burned carbon black and crumble when I touch them.I have been watering the tree, not regularly, but when it has been rainless, like lately. Is this scorched leaf condition due to dryness or a disease? Please advise.
AnswerSounds like dryness. I would water every five days if it does not rain. Do what I call deep watering--turn the hose on real slow and let it run for an hour or so. This will allow the plant to get the water deep into the soil. Waiting between watering wil make sure you do not over water.
