QuestionMy aloe plant has white spots all over it, but they do not resemble cotton. The leaves/tentacles have a smooth, even surface. They do not have any texture where the spots reside.. It looks as it is zebra kind of pattern on all the leaves. It looks healthy, just spotted. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for your response.
AnswerDear Mark, From your description it is hard to tell what exactly is wrong with your aloe, but I think you have a fungal infection. Aloes prefer to be on the dry side, so be sure not to water too frequently, and make sure that if you use a saucer under the plant you don't leave standing water in it. If you have any mushy spots on the leaves, cut those off. The ends of the leaves will seal back up. If you still have bad spots towards the interior of your plant, you can spray with a lightweight horticultural oil, but just removing the bad spots and letting the plant get drier will do wonders. Also you might want to try to increase the amount of light that it gets. Aloes will recover very quickly when give good growing conditions so this should fix your plant. If it doesn't, or if you have new symptoms develop, write back and I will try to help. Good luck, Melissa
