Please advise cause of the brown/black patch and treatment required in the attached image.

The plant was placed beside a window in a tropical country and it is not under direct sunlight. Watering is carried out every two/three days when soil/very small black colored rock-like medium is relatively dry.

Thank you very much!

Poh Yu:

This leaf spot may be an indication of a bacterial issue or a physical injury.  The presence of a narrow yellow halo around the spot may point to a bacteria problem.  At this point if there are a minimal number of leaf lesions, just remove and discard the offending leaf.  I would not recommend any chemical applications at this time, just leaf removal.  This should solve the issue if it is a disease on the leaves.  Be sure to water the plant without getting the foliage wet. Wet leaf surfaces are good for bacterial and fungal diseases to get started.  Be sure also that the soil is well drained and does not remain wet.  The4se plants do not like "wet feet" for extended periods. A root rot may develope as a result.  This root rot may manifest itself initially as a browning of the leaf edges.  This will progress and get worse if it is a root rot.  Good drainage is essential to prevent this.

Steve
