QuestionI've had a Meyer lemon tree for 5-6 years. it's about 3 ft tall, grows indoors in a south west window. It has annually produced blossoms and fruit. This year, the leaves have areas that seem translucent, slightly yellow and have brownish patches on the undersides. The patches are not greasy or furry, just slightly raised and irregular in shape and location.
New growth appears, blossoms come out and lemons form. Then some of the tiny lemons fall off. It now has three major branches, two having sparse leaves and one with new growth leaves. It also has 2 lemons - one ping pong ball size the other about the size of the end of your thumb..both still growing and I expect them to come to full term.
My concern is the leaf situation. The tree look puny, and sickly and 'stick-y' ( with mostly bare branches) rather than lush and green. I could send a leaf, or forward a color photo if that would help. I've been to my local 'English Gardens' store experts, but none are citrus experts. Please help... and thanks.
AnswerHi Karen, your lemon tree has aphids. It causes the sticky stuff on your plants. Probably from being on the inside all the time. You can get an insectacide for it. Or you can check out Atomic Grow which is organic and can be used on all your plants to make them healthy. It will clean all the dirt and grim off the leaves then it will work its way into the leaves and branches down to the roots. The brix in the plant will be raised to make the tree healthy. Bugs go to plants that are not healthy. If there is any fungus in the flowers it will correct that too. kathy
