QuestionPlum tree failure
I bought a dwarf tree recently It did not grow And I intend to return it for credit
However I noticed that there are shoots coming out on the stock Is there any point in keeping it?
Hugh
AnswerDear Hugh, Absolutely not! Return the plant and get your credit. When a fruit tree comes out from the bottom of the tree, especially if the top of the tree is dead, it means that the graft is dead and the plant has reverted back to the root stock. The tree that will be produced like this will not be the same tree that you purchased, the fruit will probably be inferior (and sometimes inedible) quality, and the tree will also be weaker because of this. So definitely return the tree and try another one. Good luck next time. Melissa
