QuestionWe live on a100 acres. Noticed a kumquat tree in the back. So dug it up and planted it up in the front. At first it seemed to do ok, but now all the leaves are turning brown. Also would live to.know is there any way to shorten the tree its about 8 to 9 ft tall. Please help.

From your description, I suspect the tree may be suffering from transplant shock. This can be tramatic, especially if it is done during hot/dry conditions. Usually the best time to transplant/plant a tree is during the dormant season. Transplant shockcan be a common issue. Most of the time it is temporary- only time will tell if it is. After 2-3 weeks, you should see signs of new growth. This is evidence that the tree is adjusting. If none appears after a month, the shock may be too much for the tree to make it.
Topping a tree is usually not recommended. It can create a lot of growth/tree form problems.
