QuestionI have white fungi on the leaves of my plant
AnswerDear Eileen, I am not sure that what you are looking at on this african violet is fungi. There is a strong possibility that it could be mealybugs, since they do like this plant a lot. Mealybugs are fuzzy, extremely slow moving insects that often are mistaken for fungi since they are usually not seen moving at all. Either way, I have a simple solution for you. Get a NEEM based product from a gardening center or Home Depot. There are several on the market, and I would just get one in a handy spray bottle. NEEM is an organic product that is effective in killing mites, insects and fungi, so it is perfect for people with small gardens or houseplants, because the one product can take care of everything. Just spray the plant with the NEEM and the bugs or fungi will die off. You may have to spray several times a few days apart to completely get rid of it. You might want to clean up the residue with cotton swabs so the plant will still look nice. This will definitely fix your problem but be sure to write back if you have any more questions. Good luck, Melissa
