Fiddle leaf ficus

Question
My fiddle-leaf ficus leaves have holes in them.  I don't see any signs of insects.  What is the cause and treatment?

Answer
Lois:
Usually holes in leaves result from feeding activities of insects.  Insects can sometimes hide from us, so be sure to check on the undersides of the leaves, on stems and on the lower portions of the plant and even on the soil underneath the plant.  There are a few diseases that cause spots followed by those spots "falling out" leaving a hole in the leaf.

A closeup photo may be helpful if you can send one.  Be sure it is in focus.  A few questions may also help out.  Is this plant inside or outside your home?  How big are the holes (diameter)?  Are they on older or younger leaves?  Are they over the entire plant or localized near one portion. Are the holes getting more numerous or staying about the same in number?  Has anything been sprayed on the plant?

Hopefully, you can send along a photo.  Try to get as close as you can to make the photo.  Be sure to review your image on your computer before sending- to be sure it is crisp.

Regards
Steve
