Euonymus Plant Disease

Question
Dr. Vann,

I have 4 euonymus plants fully grown on my property in Long Island, New York. They are all more than 10 years old. They have been fine until recently. Now in the last 4 weeks, all 4 of them have shed more than half of leaves and the leaves that left behind are either totally brown or in the process of browning. The once thick foliage now looks so bare that it brings me to tears.

Is is too late to save them? I would be delighted if you could advise as to how I can save these gorgeous shrubs that added elegance to my yard for the past 10 years. Thanks,

Answer
Dave:
From your description, sounds as if these 4 may be succumbing.  These symptoms may indicate a root/soil issue. Thisay be lots of things from a water stress, nutrition, or a physical injury to the stem/ roots. Take a look for any obvious injuries ect.

Steve
