Grand Duke of Tuscany Jasmine

Question
Hi Ms Melissa,

I didnt give my Den. Enobi Purple Splash any special treatment. I mist it daily and water once every few days. I would also mist it with dilute liquid fertilizer twice per week. Recently, I bought a pot of Grand Duke of Tuscany Jasmine. I'm aware that this plant needs full-sun but I simply can't resist its strong fragrance and gardenia-like beauty. Hence, may I know if it can grow in my balcony( I guess you can still recall the light condition at my balcony)? I'm currently growing the common jasmine sambac in my balcony as well and it's flower regularly, though not as profusely when first bought.

Answer
Dear Alfredo, Thanks for the tips.  I need to treat my orchids better.  I know I don't feed them enough.  The Grand Duke of Tuscany jasmine is a type of sambac jasmine and will grow in the same conditions, which are part sun to full sun  (It took a while to be sure of this from a reliable source).  So I think you will have good luck with this jasmine also.  Just be aware that this variety of sambac is a climber so when it gets a bit leggy it is just trying to stretch out.  These flowers are significant in a number of cultures and are used in blessing children and in making leis and in dedicating to Buddha among other things.  I thought that was interesting.  Melissa
