QuestionWe live in Henderson, Nv and have a Blood Orange Tree, it is growing just right and will have fruit this year, but the new growth coming in do not look right the leaves are curled. We have about 4 or 5 oranges that are about the size of gold balls, but have lost some--they just fall off.
Any help with our problem?
AnswerHi Rosa,
Based on this description, I cannot tell you the exact problem with the tree. My best guess is that you have an insect problem. Look closely at the curled leaves. Citrus leaves will often curl when they are being attacked by an insect pest. It could be aphids, leaf miners, etc.
If you find evidence of insects, you can reply with a clear description of the insects or a digital image showing them and I can help verify what you found. You may want to treat the plants with a product such as horticultural oil, neem oil or insecticidal soap. These products are available at your local garden center.
Good luck with your tree!
