Hi Ms Melissa,
How are you doing? What are your recent gardening exploits? May I know what's the ID of this dendrobium of which I've been growing for about 4 years. It's a prolific bloomer though.
AnswerDear Alfredo, I am doing well although we are having very hot weather lately. It has been well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for over the last two weeks with no rain. So mostly I moved my plants to the north side and I'm watering a lot. Other than that, I have mostly been involved with writing: I have a novel I'm trying to complete, a family history, a family recipe book, rewriting a book written about my great aunt who lived in India most of her life, as well as a Q&A book on plant subjects similar to this forum. I guess that's one way to beat the heat. Thank you so much for all the beautiful plant pictures. I enjoy them so much. Regarding your dendrobium which is amazing, I looked at hundreds of pictures of dendrobiums, and I'm still not sure, but my best guesses would be Dendrobium christyanum, D. cuthbertsonii, or D. papilio. It looks closest to these varieties. Incidentally, I found a web site with the most amazing orchid pictures. It is <www.orchidphotos.org/images/> . You will get lost looking at all the pictures. Sorry I can't pinpoint it exactly; I'm not always good at this with identifying varieties, but see what you think of those types. Good to hear from you as always. Melissa
