QuestionI need to know how to stop my grape vine leaves from curling. Your help will greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch Carla
AnswerDear Carla, The first thing to do is to determine why the grape leaves are curling. Usually this is a sign of insect infestation, and most likely, if you look on the underside of the leaves, you will see a lot of aphids sucking out the plant juices. This is my best guess, as aphids will infest grape leaves and curl them under. Another bug that could do this is scale, an unmoving insect that lives under a hard shell, or the cottony fluffs which are mealybugs, another form of scale. You will need to kill the bugs without poisoning the grapes, so I would suggest NEEM, or whatever your local agricultural agent suggests. NEEM is organic, and grapes could be eaten two days after spraying. Be sure to spray the entire plant, top and bottom, with special attention to the bottom of the leaves. You will need to spray several times a week apart to get rid of the bugs. Now if you don't see bugs, please write back and describe the plant further. The only other cause to your leaves curling I can think of is not enough water. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Good luck, Melissa
