Question
I have been get small mushrooms growing in my orchid. They are thin stemmed white and have small caps on them. I am concerned that it may be a bigger problem.

Dear Courtney, You are correct in that there may be a bigger problem, but it is very easy to solve this one.  Just remove the mushrooms, and then spray the orchid with a fungicide, being careful to spray the soil or potting medium as well.  Then when you water, be sure to empty all water from the tray to avoid getting the potting medium too soggy.  Fortunately, when you just have mushrooms, you usually don't have a bad fungus problem yet.  Good luck and let me know if you have further questions.  Melissa
