Do you think if I plant some impatiens in clay pots and put different tempatured stakes in the pots that they will grow differently?

Answer
Dean, it will make no difference in the growth habit. The only advantage of warming the soil is when planting from seed. The seed needs warmth to germinate. The optimum temperatures for germination are 70F to 80F. The cooler the soil is under 70F, the longer it takes for germination. But once the seedling has two or more leaves, the growth does not vary between 55F and 80F. Anything colder or hotter will stunt the growth.
