QUESTION: Is this plant Poisonious?

ANSWER: Hi Laurie:

Yes it is if ingested, but as long as you don't eat it, it will give you lovely flowers all summer. You can handle them and not worry it is only if you eat them that they are poisonous.

Many of our annuals and perennials are poisonous if they are eaten, but the point is are you going to eat them or enjoy their flowers

Tomato leaves and rhubarb leaves are also poisonous, but I've never heard of anyone dying from them because we simply don't eat them.

I did not mean this to be condescending.  What I meant was to be reassuring that it won't harm anyone or anything unless it's eaten. I thought that you were worried about handling them. I sure didn't mean to imply that you are an idiot. I'm sorry that you feel that is the case. I too have young grandchildren and I would never put them in peril.     Myrna

Maybe if you had asked a better question I would have been able to answer better. I volunteer my time to help people and I get abuse from you I was not condescending I was trying to help but you won't accept that, even after I explained why I answered as I did--so be it
