Questioncan these flowers be planted outside in summer?
AnswerHi Carter:
You didn't say where you live, what variety you have, how many you have or how big they are. They come in a lot of different varieties from small to large, so I will answer generally.
Yes they will survive outside in above freezing temperatures. They are best planted so that they are shaded during the heat of the day.
Be aware that if you live in some of the southern States in the USA there is a weevil that will attack bromeliads and if you have frost in the winter they will have to be repotted and brought back in.
If it were me I would grow them in their pot all summer outside and then bring pot and all inside for the winter. If they are a smaller plant and you have a few you could group them in one large planter. Don't take them out of their pots, just sink pot and all into the soil. If you have a plant saucer under them remove it first. In the winter lift them up, wash off the pot and bring them inside
I hope this helped Myrna
