QuestionI want to keep my pansies blooming as long as possible. We are in the
mountains so heat is not a problem. I deadhead but they get very leggy.
Should I cut back at some point and will they start over. Thanks
AnswerCut back ('pinch') to the bottom leaves and don't give up on them as Summer takes off. In Autumn they will be revived. Heat is murder on Pansies, but they go semidormant -- 'though they look dead. Deadheading which you are doing is also a critical factor. And don't overwater -- their roots are vulnerable to bacterial rot.
