QuestionI planted store-bought begonias both the pink and white with glossy leaves in the spring,I live near Wash DC,several small ones have sprouted from the seeds falling, will they survive winter and grow larger in the spring and flower or can I dig thenm up and put them in pots by a sunny window indoors so they remain alive and put them back out in early May to grow and flower?
Answerbegonias will die if left outside(they are annuals).
begonias will overwinter inside quite easily. they will look kind of ragged until next spring. give them a good morning(east) window exposure. dig them up and put them in pots w/a good indoor potting mix(like junglegrowth, redimix, or other). water by weight. put a saucer under the pot. water and let the plant sit in the excess water for 5-10 minutes. after that time pour off any excess water in the saucer. pick up the pot. it should feel heavy. don't water again until it feels considerably lighter in weight. about 1-2 times per week.
hope this info helps you.
