annuals as houseplants?

Question
I am growing some annuals from seed indoors, and I would like to keep the plants indoors and enjoy them as houseplants. Is this possible? I live in northwest Pennsylvania, in zone 6. Will the plants die when the daylight hours shorten? I have planted dwarf phlox, vinca, and morning glories in pots and have them in the window sills of my east and south walls. How long will the plants bloom, and eventually survive? Will I have to manually pollonate the flowers? If I am doomed to fail with these plants, can you recommend some easy-to-care-for flowering plants that will survive indoors? I have had much success with my spider plants and aloe, but really want some color from flowers to liven up my house. Thanks for your help in advance

Answer
In winter, impatiens are the easiest to grow and survive. They bloom in low light conditions. You can root cuttings during the winter if a plant get overgrown (easy in low light). Morning glories may do well, the flowering will depend on light. Vinca I don't think will do well. I don't know about dwarf phlox.

Put bowls filled with stone pellets around the plants and fill these with water. do not let plants sit in water. the bowls around the plants provide the humidity. keep plants moderately dry between waterings during low light conditions.
