QuestionI just got one of the awesome succulents but am not sure if I can plant it in the full sun. It is about 2ft tall and don't want to risk damage. I had it out in the sun and noted some discoloration in areas that were green before. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Daniel
AnswerDear Daniel,
Never put a plant in full sun without doing it gradually. Over the course of a month I cover mine from 10A to 2P, gradually shortening the length of time i keep the cover on (I use a sheer curtain) anything some sun can get through is fine.
I wouldn't put Euphorbia crest in full sun ever. Don't forget it's a mutation and usually they have less chlorophyll so while they do need sun they burn really easily. 3-4 hours a day of gradual sunlight is fine. I don't put mine out at all (poor baby) but I've had to much experiences of burning and pocking when they've been outside. I think of there as small sculptures and enjoy them indoors near a sunny window.
The discoloration on your plant is permanent is permanent, so learn to love it!
