QuestionHi Marueen,
I have a cut-up baja saguaro plant and am wanting to plant the top "crown" which is about 2 feet high. It has been sitting out now for 2 weeks and is starting to "green over" and heal apparently. Should I plant only when the slice has completely "healed over with new tough skin"? Maybe in about 3-4 weeks after it was cut?

AnswerYes, wait until it is completely calloused, however long that takes. You can root it directly in the ground or in a pot. I recommend a pot as it needs some shade while rooting and you can move it if you need to. I'd leave it there for 6mo. to a year and transplant where you want it to be. Give it some sun protection initially when you do that.
