Question
Cactus rott
I have a cactus I moved to a larger pot exactly 3 weeks ago. Today I noticed two of the three stalks are starting to rot from the bottom. I used Cactus soil from Home Depot to pot the catus and watered it after. I've had this cactus for several years and its always done well, its been an indoor plant. Its something I've done lately, either the repotting or the watering. Where it has turned black its soft to the touch. I peeled back a small section with a spoon and its all gooey black stuff in there. Please tell me what I need to do to rescue my poor cactus.

AnswerIt looks like you used inproper repotting procedures. When you repot, you should plant the cactus when the cactus soil is very moist. It should not be watered after until the soil becomes completely dry. Other cases include overwatering. If you have been watering too much that you don't allow the soil to dry, then the cactus has what's known as root-rot. Try to water only 3 days after drought. It may have chances of surviving.
