QuestionI have a pencilneck euphorbia (green stick tree) it is about 2 feet tall and I am living in cold Ohio with the plant indoors and I give it very little water in the winter. Although it is in front of a window, it does not get a strong amount of sunlight and often I keep the shade down to protect it from any cold near the glass.
My problem is that over a dozen small branches have continued to keep falling off after turning yellow or they dry up from the tip of the branch, spreading down the whole branch until it is dead. This also happened when I moved to NC, but when I put it outside in the hot, sunny, humid summer it got much better and grew very well.
What do I need to do in the Winter so that all the branches or the whole plant doesn't die on me??
PLEASE HELP, I don't want to lose it. THANKS!!!
AnswerMike,
I think you answered your own question. The environment your plant is in is key. However, it is normal for that plant to drop branches. In nature, this plant becomes a tree, so it will start dropping branches from the bottom up (is that what yours is doing?). Every one that I have had has done what I just described.
Try to provide a similar warm humid environment in winter and you may slow the process. Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Greg
