QuestionI purchased an ocotillo last spring and planted it. It sprouted new leaves abnd looked great. Now its lost most of its leaves. Is this normal in the fall? I live in the high desert outside Victorville and have it on a drip system.
AnswerJoyce,
Ocotillo's are supposed to loose their leaves in times of drought, so that is completely normal. The drip system is a bad idea and may damage or kill it if it gets too much water. Ocotillo's are extremely drought resistant and need no additional water after they are established in your yard.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Greg
