QuestionI planted the souvenir saguaro cactus seeds about 4 years ago and now have several little saguaro cactus about 4 inches high and about 2 inches around. I was wondering if I can plant them in the ground at my house in Tonopah, AZ. Or if I should keep them in a pot for a while longer. I keep them outside on my porch so they are use to the heat but not the direct sun.
AnswerMarion,
Yes you can plant them out, just make you plant them under something, like a small bush. In nature, saguaro's grow under a "nurse plant" for many years before they can handle direct sunlight. If you don't have any small bushes, you can shade them with shade cloth to have the same effect. Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Greg
